This is the second email I'm sending and 2 unanswered messages from Rich Allen. On October 29th, 2022, I brought my vehicle in for installation of new tires.
I bought a set of Crosswinds at approximately 130.00 plus I paid for mounting balancing disposal and manufacture alignment. When all was said and done, I spent 789.00 which was a fair price. When I dropped my car off there was no issue with the ride it was simply time for new tires seeing as the winter was coming and I wanted to make sure I had decent treads on my tires for the winter. After receiving the keys to my vehicle, I drove it home and to work the next day.
On my way to work I noticed the car was shaking as if the tires were out of balance. I called Townfair to see if they could check the vehicle and they had little availability to check my car that day, so they penciled me in for a re-balance on that Wednesday. Seeing as worked within 2 miles of another town fair tire I decided to drop the car off the next day and leave it there to pick up after I got out of work to perform the task. When picking the car up I drove straight home and still the car was shaking at speeds of 55MPH or higher.
I took a video of a bag of chips on my passenger side seat shaking abnormally on a newly paved road. Townfair did offer to try to balance the tires one more time and if that didn't work, they would offer to replace my tires with an upgraded set. As result would have Townfair replaced the tires. We repeated this process again after towfair stated they found 1 bad tire on the second set which were a set of Arroyo Tires.
At this point the car was still shaking. I brought the vehicle back to Townfair Chicopee and the also offered to upgrade the tires to a set of Faulken tires. Losing faith that this was the issue I still agreed to allow townfair Chicopee to try to resolve the issue. After the upgrade I then got in contact with Rich Allen over the phone where he offered to have Townfair Chicopee "thoroughly inspect" my Rims in case of any damage.
Pleased with the offer to resolve the matter I agreed. After dropping the car off i received a call from townfair in Chicopee and they stated the vehicle had 2 bent rims they stated this was likely from potholes. I contested this since I would have had to hit a pothole pretty hard to bend the rims but regardless Rich Allen agreed to make a customer concession and meet halfway on a new rim and tire package to get the car to run correctly. Feeling that there was no other option i felt forced to have to agree if I wanted to get my car running the way it did before I dropped it off to Townfair.
A few days later i dropped the car off to have a new set of rims installed. Driving the car home to my surprise this did not solve the issue. I immediately called TownFair Chicopee and informed them on my ride home that the car was still shaking. The very next morning I dropped the car off and left my key in the early bird drop off.
I called the Chicopee store when the opened and explained again what was happening and i welcomed the manager to take the car for a ride so he can see for himself. Shortly within the hour the manager called and stated he took the car for a ride and saw exactly what i was talking about. They agreed to try to put the OEM tires on the car with the new rims to see if that resolved the issue. Low and behold the car still shook on the highway or at speeds greater than 55.
Frustrated with the situation not being resolved I decided to take this to the dealer to rule out there was in fact an issue with my vehicle. After maxing out my credit card I intended to by Christmas gifts for my children I paid 427.12 to get my issued resolved. In the report Toyota stated the following. 67870 upon inspection test drove vehicle on the highway and found no issues.
Removed wheels and found aftermarket wheels to have wrong size hub causing wheels to not be properly centered. Customer needs to go to back to town fair tire and they need to install hub ring adaptors and retest vehicle. Additionally, to attempt to resolve the shaking I had Toyota inspect the rims by mounting the OEM tires on to the OEM Rims. I also asked that Toyota balanced the tires and to a Road force balancing on it as well.
After doing so Toyota stated the following in their report. 67870 Dismounted and balanced tires on oem wheel. Performed road force balanced. None of the oem wheels were bent and all 4 wheels has a force of 9 or under.
Max is 25. Test drove vehicle and no longer felt vibration. Had another technician test drive vehicle and he did not feel vibration either. Again, all said and done this costed me 427 additionally out of my budget.
The following day I went to townfair tire in Fitchburg where this issue started. I professionally asked to speak to manager, and I spoke with Kevin. I explained to him everything that has transpired in this summary, and he stated he would have Townfair Tire cut me a check to reimburse me for the money I spent to get this matter resolved with Toyota. Im writing to disclaim first of all that I have no complaint with the customer service but with the performance of townfair.
This should have not been something that needed to go back to Toyota to resolve.
Ive been buying tires from Townfair for well over a decade and this is the first time Ive ever had this issue. I would like to ensure that the check for reimbursement is made at a timely manner before I incur interest charges on the credit card I had to use to pay for this to be fixed.
- Customer service was good over all
- Technicians seem to not know how to fix issues
Preferred solution: simply costs incurred for the dealership (Toyota) to fix what Townfair should have been able to resolve.

I went to purchase 4 tires and make a future appointment to have them installed, Shawn from the Fairfield, Connecticut location said there was no one ahead of me and they would be able to do it now. I paid in full and agreed to wait.
The whole installation would take about an hour and a half. After waiting 1.5hrs I noticed my vehicle had not moved from where I parked it. I confronted Shawn who was adamant that the car was moved and an alignment had been completed. After I stated proof that the vehicle had not been moved he wanted to refund me the money for an alignment.
I responded why give me a refund on something which was supposed to have been down. I then asked why the new tires were not installed, Shawn responded customers with appointments were being taken care of first. I responded that the only reason I agreed to stay was because I was told there would be no wait.
Shawn then added I had not been waiting for 1.5 hrs then retracted that statement after seeing the time posted on the receipt. I requested a full refund which Shawn gave me, unfortunately this customer of 40 years is in search of a new tire store.
Preferred solution: Warning future customers of their deceptive practice

Placed a complaint about Southington townfair tire.
After making a complaint the regional manager contacted me, and apologized to me and said he would take care of me, sent me to Bristol TownFair Tire and clerk #335M had My truck done in approximately 2 hours. So I will say that I was surprised that the regional manager contacted me and made me happy and even mailed me a $100 check, and made sure I was taken care of, so I would recommend Bristol store for their service and as for the Regional Manager he was very polite and made sure I was satisfied with my service and I feel much better about this business.
So if the Regional Manager treats everyone like he treated me I believe that they keep customers coming back. Sincerely Daniel Ouellette, a Satisfied customer Finally.
Preferred solution: I have been taken care of by the Regional Manager
User's recommendation: Let the Store know that you will contact the regional manager.

I hit a pot hole on the Ma pike which caused my tire light to go on last week. I made an appointment on this date at 930 am (my one day off a week) to have this issue addressed.
I informed the desk of the light on and also requested to have the tires balanced and rotated while I was in
I arrived for my appointment an hours early hoping I would be able to get in early. Not only did I not get in early but I had to go to the counter and inquire why my vehicle still hadnt been brought in at 950 am.
They finally finished up just after 11am at which time I met the technician in the parking lot to leave. When I got in my vehicle I was Astonished to see the tire light still on. I informed the technician that the light was still on and he proceeded to tell me there was a bad rear tire sensor.
I immediately told him thats the whole reason I took it into have that fixed I asked him if he could take it back in and that Ive already been here for 3 hrs with an appointment for this and he said that he has another car ahead of me.
At that time I left absolutely repulsed at how my appointment had gone I then called the store and attempted to speak with the manager to voice my complete and utter dissatisfaction with how my appointment had gone. I was briefly put on hold and then told that I could try calling back . I politely informed the receptionist that I did not want to be playing phone tag for a manager and that I would wait until one was available. I was put on hold again and then after several minutes forwarded to a voicemail box that was full so was basically hung up on .
As a loyal customer of Town Fair Tire, one that has purchased 2 complete sets of tires over the last few years as well as taking my wifes car in for tire issues when they occur.
I can tell you that this is the last time I will use your store for anything.
You have lost a loyal customer based on your inept and absolutely horrendous customer service. Hopefully a manager sees this email..

Verified Reviewer | Fairhaven, MassachusettsI was ripped off by Town Fair Tire in Fairhaven MA
I'm dealing with dishonest people. They won't refund me the money.
Didn't know how to take care of the customer. I purchased four new tires, made the alignment there and I had two tires scalloped after 10k miles. The warranty didn't work. Replaced for two new tires.
Now I have the other two tires ruined tires. The same problem; Are scalloped. I did around 15k miles and the 4 tires are ruined. Are junk.
They didn't honor the warranty.
Actually, I quote this company as a scam. Never had problems with tires at Roland Tires and Dartmouth tires.
- I dont see any after what they did to me
- Dont honor the warranty
Preferred solution: Replace under warranty of my tires that didnt last 20k miles.

Dropped a loose wheel off at 12pm for a flat repair. Asked if it would be done by closing time and they said it was GUARANTEED.
Mind you I left work for an hour to do this. Now I also leave work early to make sure I get there before close to pick it up they close at 6. I get there at 5 and wait until 6:43pm and Ive finally had enough and asked one of the managers if they even touched my wheel yet and he says it probably wouldnt be worked on for another hour! Ive already wasted an hr driving and 2 hrs waiting with no update, are you kidding me?
The least you guys could have done was called me for an update. Not only that but the manager was extra rude and I said the person i spoke with said it would be done by close. You know what he says? He says does it look like we are closed?
With a huge attitude.
Totally unacceptable and I will never be coming to this location again ever in my life. Id rather walk if my car ever broke down next to that store.

What a lo ser feminine man you are. They are still there working on cars 43 minutes past closing and you make it all about you.
Here’s a bro tip for you.
Treat an independent mechanic well early on in life and he will take care of you. This place was still open after close and was gonna get to your car.
Simple all they had to do was give me an update. Instead of me dropping it off and coming back to wait for it.
They definitely overbooked and thats not good for business. But thanks for the bro tip!
